An active painter and teacher, Jane Neroni has taught numerous drawing and painting workshops and classes in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Vermont. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan, and a Masters in Art Education from The City University of New York. She has studied at the Art Students League in New York City, the Woodstock School of Art, the State University at New Paltz, NY and at the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned a Certificate in Natural Science Illustration. She has taught in high schools in New York and in Providence, RI where she was a critic teacher for Rhode Island School of Design’s Master of Arts in Teaching program and for Rhode Island College’s student art teachers.
In 1995 Jane joined the staff of RISD’s continuing education division where she directed the Natural Science Illustration Certificate Program, coordinated the Children’s Book Illustration Certificate Program, developed the Drawing + Painting Studies Program and taught drawing and painting courses until she moved to Vermont in 2007. In 2006 Jane was the recipient of RISD’s “Teacher of Excellence” award. She now teaches “Drawing and Painting Botanicals” for the University of Vermont.
Jane’s paintings have been shown at the Bryan Gallery, the Fisk Gallery, the Gruppe Gallery and at Basin Harbor in Vermont. In Rhode Island her work has been exhibited at the Newport Museum and at the Woods-Gerry Gallery on the Rhode Island School of Design campus. She has participated in the Northern Vermont Artists exhibits (where she received the Harold Knight Oils Award), and with the Pawtucket, RI Art Collaborative. As a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators she has exhibited in juried shows in Providence, RI and Bar Harbor, Maine.
